7 Things To Do At The Start Of A New Month

It’s time to welcome a new month. And it’s also that time of the month when you look back at the previous month and contemplate on your decisions. A new month brings with itself several opportunities, and an another chance to make things better than before.

Hence, if you’re thinking to change your life TODAY, then these are the 7 things you should do at the start of a new month. If you ask yourself hard-hitting questions today, you won’t have to do it in the future.

(1) Reflect On Your Daily Routine

This is the first thing your should at the start of a new month. Reflect on your daily routine. Ask yourself these questions and see whether you can confidently answer:

(1) Did you complete all the goals set in previous month?
(2) If failed, why couldn’t you complete your goals?
(3) What can you do to not repeat the same mistakes again?
(4) Are you ready to take on more tasks?
(5) Are your proud of yourself?

These five questions will immensely help you reflect upon your monthly goals. Be true to yourself and answer these questions. Don’t worry, nobody is going to judge you. Nobody is going to make you feel guilty for not achieving your monthly goals.

Trust me, if you genuinely answer these questions, and work upon your mistakes, you’ll never repeat the same mistakes again. You’ll be better every month, and by the end of the year, you’ll be a completely new person.

(2) Write Down New Goals

Congratulation for completing the previous month goals. Please don’t get depressed if you couldn’t complete it, no matter the reason. Yeah, don’t be sad even if you couldn’t complete your monthly goal because of procrastination.

Look at the bright side. You now know that it’s procrastination that is affecting your productivity. Be observant of the things that trigger procrastination. Eliminate those trigger immediately and you’ll be free.

List down new goals and include your previous month goals. Please don’t punish yourself by listing hundreds of goals for this month. Your mind will immediately feel demotivated.

In fact, set only a few number of goals (about 10) for the new month. Create a new list if you complete them before the end of the month. Keep yourself engaged. Don’t let emptiness seep into your life.

(3) Read A New Book

Successful people have one thing in common. They read. A LOT. Few years ago, Warren Buffett recommended reading 500 pages everyday. Most books are less than 500 pages, so Buffett indirectly said to read one book a day. That’s an insane number!

Honestly, not everyone can read 500 pages a day, and even if they do, only a handful of people would digest so much information. But you sure can read one book a month. Consider a book has 300 pages, you only need to read 10 pages a day.

Initially you might not have the patience to read for long hours, but with time your brain will adapt. Back in 2020, when I had very little to do, I took up this challenge to read as much books I can. Though I don’t remember exactly the total number of books, but I read about 15 books in two months.

It changed my life completely. So, if reading only 15 book can change my life in 2 months, no wonder successful people are always a step ahead for the masses.

(4) Check Your Financial Situation

Check your budget. How did you perform in the previous month? Is your financial situation better than before? Money management is hard! But it’s relatively easy when you follow a strong budget.

Create a budget at the start of a new month. You can follow you previous month’s budget if it suited you perfectly, but usually every month’s expense is different. You might have to spend on something thing month that you didn’t have to before.

Take your time to create a good budget because everything depends on it. Leave no loophole that you can exploit when your impulsive buying instincts hit. Keep an eye on the future and take decision in the present.

(5) Refresh & Declutter

Your room is always beautiful, the only problem is that it’s too cluttered. I know what you’re thinking! No, I won’t ask you to follow the so-called minimalist lifestyle or live frugally. Those concepts are good, but not everyone loves to live frugally. Then what should you do?

Enter The KonMari Method. The KonMari Method is different from hardcore minimalism. This method encourages you to remove those items from you life that have no purpose anymore. Yes, it can be things that were once close to your heart, but today it has very little value.

You can say that the KonMari Method is a method of filtering things. You only let certain things stay in your life and home that has a value. Anything that doesn’t gets discarded and eventually thrown out. The Japanese use the KonMari Method heavily, which help them follow a super-simple lifestyle.

Also, you might not know this, but objects start emitting and gathering negative aura when you keep it at one place for too long. Following the KonMari method won’t let that happen.

(6) Write Down New Affirmations

What do you want to attract in your life? The idea of creating a Vision Board sprouted from Law of Attraction. I learned the power of vision board from my sister. She has a skincare YouTube channel, and wanted to collaborate with big brands. She tried to visualize for 2 months but nothing happened.

Suddenly she got a hunch of creating a vision board. Finally, after three days, she created her a vision board and started looking at it every morning when she woke up. I kid you not! She received a brand collaboration from two big brands. Though she did not receive any money for it, but she was happy enough to even work with them.

While vision boards are usually created for that whole year, it completely depends on how intensely you want something. If you’re eager enough and desperate to manifest, then it won’t take much time.

The light version of a vision board is the Scripting Method. For some reason, the Scripting manifestation method works like charm. It’s the easiest, yet one of the most powerful ways to attract something in your life.

(7) Start Compound Investment

Budgeting is crucial to live a balanced life. No matter what everyone says, money IS important to live a happy life. Without good finances almost everything feels empty. Hence, it’s important to save money for emergency and also invest a portion of it for retirement.

You can either follow the 80/20 rule, or set your own rules. Here’s how you can apply the 80/20 rule here: Spend 80% of your monthly income leaving the 20% for investment and emergency fund.

This is a great strategy if you’re having a hard time saving money. By following this investment routine, you’re compounding your wealth over time. You feel good when you see that every following year you’re securing your retirement.
